FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki recently took a close-up self portrait.

On October 17, Lee tweeted a picture with the short comment, “I braided my hair.”

In the picture, Lee is doing his hair prior to a photo shoot. Even though the picture was taken very close to his face, his milky white skin was very popular.

People who saw the picture responded: “He is getting cuter.” “He has such nice skin.” “Even a close-up picture of him looks perfect.”

[NEWS] FT Island sell over 30,000 copies of their fourth album, Five Treasure Box


FT Island have sold 30,000 copies of their fourth album, Five Treasure Box, in a week.

Since they released their fourth album on September 10, they have topped the charts for a week, even on the weekend. They also topped the weekly charts of sales.

The new album of FT Island contains a total of ten songs, including the lead track, “I Wish.” Seven of them are written or composed by FT Island members. The group has released many songs written and composed by themselves in Japan, but the portion they participated in is the largest this time.

FT Island received many favorable reviews from September 13 to 16 with the lead track and other songs of their new album.

They also attracted a lot of attention by performing different songs on different TV shows.

In the episode of Mnet’s M Countdown, which aired on September 13, the group performed “I Wish” and “Let It Go,” a song composed by Choi Jong Hoon, and in the episode of KBS 2TV’s Music Bank, which aired on September 14, they performed “Paper Plane,” a song written and composed by Lee Jae Jin.

In the episode of MBC TV’s Show! Music Core, which aired on September 15, they performed “Compass,” a song composed by Choi Min Hwan and Song Seung Hyun and written by Lee Hong Ki, and in the episode of SBS TV’s Inkigayo, which aired on September 16, they performed “Life,” a song composed by Choi Jong Hoon and written by Lee Hong Ki.

FT Island say, “It’s our new album released in three years. We really appreciate your love and interest. We’ve just finished our performances in the first week, and we were really happy and excited while performing. We’ll try to show you better performances, so please look forward to it.”

FT Island will continue promoting the lead track, “I Wish.”

[NEWS] FT Island’s Lee Jae Jin explaines why he broke up with his ex-girlfriend

FT Island’s Lee Jae Jin recently explained why he had broken up with his ex-girlfriend.
In the episode of Yoo Hee Yul’s Sketchbook on KBS2 that aired on September 11, FT Island gave a performance of a new song from their fifth album, Five Treasure Box.

Emcee Yoo Hee Yul said, “I see music by FT Island has grown so much. I think that implies you guys have experienced falling in love and breaking up.”

The emcee asked, “Which member recently experienced a breakup?” All the members pointed Lee Jae Jin. Lee explained, “My ex-girlfriend said that she was not happy, so I let her go.”
Next, Choi Jong Hoon was selected as the one who experienced the most heartbreaking breakup. Choi said, “My ex-girlfriend started avoiding me just after her birthday party. Since then, I haven’t been able to get in touch with her.”
The performance of their new song is to air on September 14 at 12:15 a.m.

[OFFICIAL VIDEO] FTISLAND reveals the MV for ‘I Wish’


FTISLAND is back with their 4th full-length album FIVE TREASURE BOX.

On September 10th, the band, who had promoted Severely earlier this year, released the MV for their new title track I Wish. The MV features all the members with the girl they love (played by AOA’s Hyejeong) and they seem to be reminiscing the good old days with the girl and finally telling the girl “I love you”.

I Wish has a bit of a Latin sound, especially with the beginning of the song. Watch it below! They will begin promotions on September 13th at M! Countdown, which Hongki is currently the MC of.

[NEWS] F.T. Island’s Hongki becomes new ‘M! Countdown’ MC

With news of Tony An leaving his MC position on Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘ after one year, it has been revealed that F.T. Island‘s Hongki is taking over as the new host!

On August 27th, PD Jung Yoo Jin of ‘M! Countdown’ revealed, “In addition to the reorganization of the program, Lee Hongki has been appointed as the new MC  beginning on August 30th.”

Producers of the program explained, “Lee Hongki holds the qualities of being an outstanding host with his volubility and wit. In particular, he is fluent in Japanese and is very popular overseas, therefore we have selected him as the most suitable to host the global music chart show, ‘M! Countdown’.”

[NEWS] FT Island will come out with a new release and a concert


FT Island will hold a concert, titled Take FT Island.

On August 28, FNC Entertainment, FT Island’s agency, reported, “FT Island will release their fourth album in the second week of September right after they finish their concert.”

On August 21, FT Island’s Choi Jong Hoon implied about the upcoming concert on his Twitter account. Uploading a picture of himself showing off his nice abs, he tweeted, “I’m ready. Are you? Please wait a little bit more :)

Choi built up his abs in order to keep the promise with his fans that he made on a radio show a year ago.

FT Island will release their new songs at the concert.

Because FT Island have become popular with such songs as “Severely,” “Love Sick,” “I Hope,” “Hello Hello,” and “Love Love Love,” many music fans are looking forward to their new album.

After they released an EP, “Grown Up,” in February in Korea, FT Island have been active in promoting the EP in the U.S., Japan, and Hong Kong. Because of the vocalist Lee Hong Ki’s powerful voice and other members’ refined stage manners, they’re popular not only in Korea but also in many other countries.

Take FT Island, FT Island’s new concert, will be held on September 1 and 2 at the Olympic Hall at the Olympic Park.

[NEWS] FTISLAND Draws Biggest Audience for Mezamashi Live in Japan


FTISLAND performed at “Mezamashi Live” that was held at Odaiba, Tokyo on 28 July, heating up the passions in Japan.

“Mezamashi Live” is Fuji TV’s summer outdoor concert and this is also the 2nd consecutive year that FTISLAND has participated in it. Last year, the members proved their popularity by attracting about 10,000 fans to the event, breaking a record in history for “Mezamashi Live”. This year, they broke the record once again and created a big sensation in Japan.

FTISLAND started off their performance with “STAY”. The back of the crowd extended far beyond what the cameras could capture while FTISLAND performed many other songs like “PAPER PLANE”, “LIFE”, “NEVERLAND”, “Boom Boom Boom” and their new single title “TOP SECRET” that is slated for release on 8 August. Their stage reached its peak when everyone started singing along with the band.

FTISLAND commented that, “Many people came to watch Mezamashi Live last year and it was still vivid in our memory. We’re really thankful that many people came this year to support us as well. We have even prepared 2 more songs for the encore segment.”

During the encore segment, FTISLAND performed “Barae” and “Flower Rock”, displaying the passionate spirit of their live performance.

FTISLAND’s Lee Hongki will be making a screen debut.

According to movie investor KJ-Net on the 30th, Lee Hongki will crank-in for the movie “Our Heaven” (temporary title) in September as “Choong Ee” the K-pop star.

“Our Heaven” is a comical human drama, talking about a top star who raises social criticism and works as a volunteer at a hospice hospital that is facing closure. From there, he realizes the preciousness of life and music.

Though “Choong Ee” is a star who receives lots of love from the public, he is also one who is experiencing growing pains. As he carries out volunteer service at the hospital, he receives treatment for his hidden pain.

Having already proven his acting skills in the drama “You’re Beautiful”, Lee Hongki said that, “I want to be careful in the selection as this is my first screen debut. I’ve read the script and I’m deeply moved by it, so I have decided to participate in the movie.”

The movie will be directed Nam Taeksu and will go on screen in the earlier half of next year in Korea and Japan.
